Lip Sync (AV Sync) describes when a person on TV speaks, but the words being heard do not correspond with the movement of their lips. The effect is observed by the speaker's lips moving before the audio arrives, or the audio arriving before the speaker's lips move. TV settings and connected devices can cause AV Sync issues.

4.

If lip sync continues on the TV, refer to the sections on resolving lip sync on external devices.

Antenna

If the AV sync issue only occurs on certain channels, then the signal from the broadcaster has an embedded audio delay. If AV Sync occurs on specific channels, then adjust the AV Sync for those channels. Refer to AV Sync Adjust

Cable / Satellite Box

Determine if the AV sync issue only occurs on certain channels. If this is the case, the signal from the broadcaster has an embedded audio delay. The following step should resolve the AV Sync delay.

Access the TV AV Sync Adjust above and try to manually correct any channel that experiences a Lip Sync problem. If the AV Sync adjustment does not correct the issue, the TV may require service.

Note:

If you are using an external audio system, try and connect your set top box directly to that audio system. This may reduce or eliminate the delay. Also check with your cable provider, if there is an AV Sync adjustment in the menus for the set top box.

Home Theater System

When a cable or satellite box passes audio through the TV, to a Home Theater System, and exhibits AV Sync problems, follow these steps to resolve.

1.

Adjust the TV AV sync from the Sound menu. Refer to the section AV Sync Adjust .

2.

Mute the TV audio, or set the TV Speaker setting to OFF.

3.

Bypass the TV by running an optical cable directly from the external device (cable / satellite box) to the Home Theater System. If this corrects the AV Sync problem, then continue to use this direct connection.

4.

Check your Home Theater System documentation to see if the system supports an AV Sync adjustment.

Blu-ray / DVD Player

If the Blu-ray or DVD Player exhibits AV Sync problems, adjust the AV Sync settings on the TV and external device.

1.

The AV sync problem may only occur with one particular DVD. Try another DVD to determine if the problem continues.

2.

While playing a disc, adjust AV sync from the TV Sound menu. Refer to the section AV Sync Adjust . If AV sync continues, contact the manufacturer of the Blu-ray or DVD player for other audio adjustments.

3.

If AV Sync adjustments on the TV and the Blu-ray or DVD player do not resolve the problem, the TV may require service.

Game Console

If the Game Console exhibits AV sync problems, adjust the AV Sync settings on the TV and Game Console. This may be caused by the TV settings or the Game Console, or the media being played in the Game Console. To determine the cause, follow the steps below.

1.

The AV sync problem may only occur with one particular game disc. Try another disc to determine if the problem continues.

2.

While playing a disc, adjust AV sync from the TV Sound menu. Refer to the section AV Sync Adjust . If AV sync continues, contact the manufacturer of the Game Console for other audio adjustments.

Note:

Check the available settings on both the Game Console and on the software discs that are played on the system, for any available audio settings that will give correct AV sync settings.

3.

If AV Sync adjustments on the TV and the Game Console do not resolve the problem, the TV may require service.
